Donald Trump slammed Adam Schiff after the California Democrat claimed the January 6 select committee had enough evidence to issue a criminal referral against the former President.
In a series of posts to his Truth Social media platform, Trump hammered “Shifty” Schiff and the committee for allegedly leaking classified information.
“The highly partisan Unselect Committee is illegally leaking confidential info to anyone that will listen,” wrote Trump.
“Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff is all over T.V. talking about Criminal Referrals, just like he was on the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, which turned out to be the con of the century,” he added.
“How much longer are Republicans, and American Patriots in general, going to allow this to happen?”

A Criminal Referral for Trump?
In other postings to Truth Social, Trump continued to take aim at the January 6 committee after reports surfaced the panel plans to issue a criminal referral list with former President Donald Trump at the “center” of it.
“Republicans and Patriots all over the land must stand strong and united against the Thugs and Scoundrels of the Unselect Committee,” he wrote in one post.

In another, Trump called the committee investigating the Capitol riot “corrupt cowards who hate our Country!”
Trump also posted screenshots of tweets, newly resurfaced after his ban was lifted by Elon Musk, showing the former President on January 6 urging his supporters to “support our Capitol Police” and to “remain peaceful.”

Adam Schiff Says Trump Can Be Charged
Adam Schiff, in a weekend appearance with CNN’s Jake Tapper, insists a criminal referral is likely coming for Donald Trump.
“I think there’s sufficient evidence to charge the president,” Schiff claimed. “The evidence seems pretty plain to me, but I would want to see the full body of evidence if I were in the prosecutor’s shoes to make a decision.”
“I don’t want to telegraph too much what we’re considering,” he added, before telegraphing what they are considering.
“But I will say that I think the president has violated multiple criminal laws, and I think you have to be treated like any other American who breaks the law, and that is you have to be prosecuted.”
“If that’s not criminal, then I don’t know what is”

Earlier this month, CNN reported that the committee intends to issue criminal referrals with Trump at the “center” of it all.
“The House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, US Capitol attack is weighing criminal referrals for former President Donald Trump and a number of his closest allies,” they wrote.

Schiff has not been a reliable source of information in the past, even as he still feels compelled to tell media allies he has ‘secret’ information but can’t discuss it further.
Where have we heard his game before?
Schiff, in his role as the House Intel Chair, for years presented lies to the American people as if he had classified information that pointed to direct collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia.
“I think there is direct evidence in the emails from the Russians through their intermediary offering dirt on Hillary Clinton as part of what is described in writing as the Russian government effort to help elect Donald Trump,” Schiff said during a CBS interview in March of 2019.

Schiff would also claim that he had “more than circumstantial evidence” of collusion.
None of that ever came to fruition.
The January 6 select committee has indicated it intends to release its final report and vote on possible criminal referrals following a nearly 18-month “investigation” on Monday.
The panel has suggested the report would focus predominantly on Trump, rather than the failures of the FBI and other law enforcement agencies.
