Sam Brinton, a Department of Energy official within the Biden administration, has been hit with a felony arrest warrant stemming from accusations that he stole luggage on a second occasion.

Brinton allegedly stole luggage from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, after recently getting caught stealing luggage in Minnesota.

Records indicate he has been charged with grand larceny with a value between $1,200 and $5,000.

Grand larceny in Nevada for that property value range is considered a category D felony with 1 to 4 years in Nevada State Prison, restitution payments, and a fine up to $5,000.

Sam Brinton Again Charged With Stealing Luggage

It seems Sam Brinton can’t keep his mitts off of other people’s luggage. The felony arrest warrant is the second time Brinton’s been accused of stealing somebody else’s baggage.

Prior to the Las Vegas airport charge, Brinton had already been accused of stealing a woman’s suitcase from an airport in Minnesota this past September.

The new felony arrest warrant casts doubt on Brinton’s defense in the Minneapolis case that grabbing the suitcase was simply a mixup brought about by exhaustion.

“If I had taken the wrong bag, I am happy to return it, but I don’t have clothes for another individual,” Brinton allegedly told police. “That was my clothes when I opened the bag.”

National Review notes that in order to avoid suspicion of theft, “Brinton stashed the materials of the suitcase in a dresser in the hotel room.”

He later excused his behavior by saying it was a result of being “tired and taking the suitcase thinking it was theirs.”

Calls For Firing

Prior to news of a possible second luggage theft, Republican lawmakers had already been demanding Sam Brinton be terminated from his Energy Department position based on the initial arrest.

Indicators that he is a serial suitcase swindler will do little to quell those demands.

“We demand the resignation of Sam Brinton, and we implore you to set aside petty politics and appoint only the most qualified and dedicated individuals to influence America’s energy sector,” a letter from 16 GOP members to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm reads.

“It is simply not possible for an individual to represent American values and simultaneously violate the felony laws of the land,” the letter reads.

Following his felony theft charge and admission of guilt, Sam Brinton has no place influencing policy in the federal government.

Brinton, who is listed on the DOE’s website as a Deputy Assistant Secretary for Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition, has been touted as a historic selection due to his ‘non-binary’ label.

“They identify as gender-fluid and use the pronouns they, them, and theirs,” his Department of Energy profile page reveals.

The department placed Brinton on leave following the first luggage theft incident but has refused to say whether he is still being paid by the federal government.
